Each week, Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Paloma Valley High School Athletes of the Week:
Adrian Gudino was runner-up in the Sunbelt League wrestling finals and helped the Wildcats finish in the top 15 out of more than 40 teams in the CIF Finals.
Alison Burnaz is one of the top players on the girls soccer team, which won its playoff opener last week and faced La Sierra today.
"Alison is one of those valuable players that are very versatile; she can play anywhere," said her coach, Marie Dillon. "This year, Alison has definitely made our defense stronger. She has dealt with a lot of adversity and always seems to come back stronger. She brings that kind of toughness to her play, which is beautiful to watch on the field.”
Angelica Kilpatrick had 22 rebounds and 16 points in two games last week for the girls basketball team, which plays at Peninsula in the CIF Division 1A playoffs on Wednesday.
These athletes will be eligible for selection as Paloma Valley High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced next week.
