The Paloma Valley girls basketball team advanced to the second round of the CIF Division 1A playoffs with a 55-42 home victory over Peninsula Saturday night.

The Wildcats improved their record to 20-7 and earned the right to play at Peninsula High of Palos Verdes in the second round on Wednesday night. Peninsula, the No. 3 team from the Bay League, is 17-10 this season.
