A Menifee man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon Thursday after being apprehended by Sheriff's Department officers following the search of a Menifee neighborhood.
James Okada, 41, was located and taken into custody after officers searched neighborhood yards on foot and with a helicopter in the vicinity of Byers Road and Craig Avenue in the rural west portion of Menifee, according to Deputy Armando Munoz of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Officers initially responded to a family disturbance call in the 31400 block of Byers Road at 2:11 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene and a search of the area began.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. No details were given about the weapon involved.
