Menifee Police officers took seven alleged offenders into custody and cited multiple other drivers Friday night during a citywide DUI saturation patrol.
According to a news release from the department, officers conducted the patrol from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. It resulted in the following:
-- 50 vehicles were stopped
-- 17 drivers were cited for unsafe driving violations
-- 24 drivers were given standardized field sobriety tests
-- 3 drivers were arrested for DUI – alcohol
-- 1 driver was arrested for DUI – drug
-- 3 drivers were taken into custody for arrest warrants
-- 4 drivers were arrested and cite/released for driving while unlicensed
-- 1 driver was arrested and cite/released for driving with a suspended license
-- 5 Vehicles were towed
During this operation, one officer observed a black BMW traveling at a high rate of speed, cross the center divider and nearly collide head-on with another vehicle. An enforcement stop was made on the BMW. The driver, 32-year-old Diane Caddy of Menifee, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Caddy was placed under arrest and booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
Funding for this program is from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
