The six Heritage players include running back Isaiah Morrow, offensive lineman Paydin Derrick, wide receiver Aleva Hifo, defensive back Marcus McIntosh, defensive lineman Axel Uveakovi, and linebacker Christian Weible (a two-time winner).
During the season, Morrow (pictured left) rushed the ball 151 times for 1,339 yards and 21 touchdowns. He average 8.9 yards-per-carry. He also caught 3 passes out of the backfield for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. Against crosstown rival Paloma Valley, Morrow rushed 18 times for 146 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Part of Morrow's success at rushing could be attributed to running behind Derrick. At six-foot-three and 305 lbs., Derrick was a force to be reckoned with.
Hifo led Heritage's receivers in receptions (20), yards (455), and touchdown receptions (4). He also played defense, racking up 2 interceptions, a fumble recovery, and 26 tackles from the cornerback position. He will return next year to continue to catch passes from quarterback Brett Virgil.
Defensive back McIntosh had 21 tackles in 9 games and returned an interception for 95 yards in the first round of the CIF playoffs. Being a junior, he will return next year to anchor Heritage's secondary.
As a defensive lineman, Uveakovi was a player that offenses had to make sure they blocked. He tallied 26 tackles during the season and had 3.5 sacks. He racked up 7 of those tackles and 1 of the sacks in a 65-12 victory over Coachella Valley.
Captain of the defense, Weible (pictured right) led Heritage with 73 tackles, had 2.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. In the season opener, Weible tallied 12 tackles against La Quinta High School. Weible has also been selected to play in the 1st Annual Inland Empire verses Orange County All-Star game, which will take place on Jan. 24 at Corona High School.
