Paloma Valley High Athletes of the Week: Jan. 21

Menifee 24/7 honors top student-athletes at Paloma Valley High School. The coach of each varsity sport is allowed to select one athlete based on the previous week's performances or on potential shown by the athlete. Here are this week's Paloma Valley High School Athletes of the Week:

Wrestler Nick Andrade placed fifth at the recent Riverside County Tournament and won three matches at the prestigious Battle for the Belt at Temecula Valley High School.

Junior forward Blake Bouman earned a starting spot in his first year on the varsity boys basketball team. He scored 12 points in a 79-52 win over Heritage Tuesday night. Bouman also maintains a 4.83 GPA. "Blake is an outstanding young man who excelt on the court and in the classroom," said his coach, Michael Pfeiffer.

Senior Bailey Calhoun is one of the most versatile athletes on the girls soccer team. According to coach Marie Dillon, "Bailey is one of our many talented student athletes at Paloma. She is a team player willing to play both offense and defense and will play any position that is asked of her. Her competitive nature is what I love the most about Bailey."

These athletes will be eligible for selection as Paloma Valley High School's Athletes of the Month, which will be announced in early February.
