One of California's leading water policy makers, has been selected to be the new President of the Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) Board of Directors.
Randy A. Record's two-year appointment will be his second as board president since he began representing the San Jacinto Valley on EMWD's Board in 2001. He previously served as president from 2005 to 2006.
Record is also the Chairman of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Board of Directors. He was unanimously selected to this position last May and will serve in that role until January 2017.
“I am honored to be selected to this position by my peers,” Record said. “As our region continues to face many unprecedented water supply challenges, I believe that the leadership of our entire Board of Directors is vital to ensuring sustainability and reliability for the communities we serve.
“It is my hope that during my tenure as Board President that Eastern will continue to be viewed as one of the state’s most respected and forward-thinking agencies.”
Considered one of the state's leading authorities on water issues, Record helped EMWD become the industry standard for its recycled water efforts. His leadership role in groundwater management strategies is widely respected.
Record takes over for Philip E. Paule, who represents the Winchester and French Valley areas and has served as Board President for the past two years.
“It was my honor to serve as Board President,” Paule said. “I am proud of the accomplishments that EMWD has made during my tenure, including our advancement of green technologies and energy efficiency. I can think of no better person to pass the gavel to than Randy Record.”
