Guests viewed hundreds of miniature nativity scenes, watched a dramatic presentation and listened to holiday music last weekend at the "Symbols of Christmas" celebration sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In addition, the church presented Family Values Awards to two prominent community members for their service and family values.
One of the award recipients was Paul Wojtkowski, who has volunteered since 2003 with a Christian group called Hope Through Education. He has also performed service through missions to Russia and Central America. He accepted the award with his wife Angela from Stake President Michael Gray of the LDS Church (left).
The other recipient was Dr. Jonathan Greenberg, superintendent of the Perris Union High School District. He has also been a supporter of United Way since 2001 and was twice president of its board. He also serves on the board of directors of the Menifee Valley Boys & Girls Club. Greenberg accepted the award with his wife Nicole from President Gray (below right).
Both couples received a ceramic statue representing families and a framed copy of the church's "Proclamation to the World" statement about the value of families.
Guests viewed a variety of nativity scenes from the United States and many other countries, including Chili, Peru, Ireland, China and Italy.
