Menifee Rings in the Holidays With Tree Lighting Festival

Santa and Mrs. Claus welcomed visitors to the official Menifee Christmas Tree Lighting Friday night.

Menifee residents and guests played in the snow, listened to holiday music and watched a giant oak tree light up with Christmas lights Friday night as the city's annual tree lighting event expanded to the site of the upcoming Menifee Town Center.

Children watched Christmas movies on a giant screen and checked out the elves' craft workshop while adults visited vendor booths and enjoyed the food available on site. Musical entertainment included the bands at Paloma Valley and Heritage high schools, a choir from St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, the Wonderellas Holiday Revue, and Arts Council Menifee.

The tree will be lighted and open to visitors throughout December. It can be accessed on Town Center Drive south of Newport Road.
