A 25-year-old man was killed and a 6-year-old girl injured this morning when a vehicle veered off the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 and rolled 80 feet down an embankment, according to a CHP news release.
The county Coroner's office identified the victim as Jeremy Daly of Lake Elsinore. He was pronounced dead at 7 a.m. at Inland Valley Medical Center, according to the CHP.
The accident occurred at about 6:24 a.m. just north of the Kalmia Street exit. According to witnesses, the Acura RSX was traveling in the No. 1 lane at approximately 70 mph and was weaving before it suddenly veered to the right and left the roadway.
Witnesses pulled over to the collision scene and located the driver lying unconscious outside of the vehicle. Witnesses also located a 6-year-old girl belted in the rear seat. A CHP officer arrived on scene and began performing CPR on the male driver, who was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The girl complained of pain to her arm and was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center.
The accident is under investigation.
