Former Mt. San Jacinto College Board Trustee, Gwendolyn Schlange was honored with plaques, awards, and certificates at the last Trustees meeting.
On Dec. 11, Board Chair Ann Motte, presented a plaque of recognition to Schlange, for her two-plus decades of service on the board. Schlange, who stepped down after the end of her term in November, was also presented with an armful of awards and certificates by Superintendent/President Roger Schultz, from the offices of Congressman Raul Ruiz, Assemblyman Chad Myers, State Senator Mike Morrell, and the entire Riverside County Board of Supervisors. Trustees and members of the audience gave Schlange a standing ovation.
Afterward, Bill Zimmerman took the Oath of Office to serve a four-year term on the board, for Schlange's previous territory of Trustee Area 3.
The board's annual reorganization saw Trustee Motte chosen for a second consecutive year as the board chair. Trustee Tom Ashley was chosen to serve as clerk of the board.
The board also recognized faculty member Richard Sisk, who advanced from Associate Professor of English to Professor of English.
Also of note at the meeting, the board learned that Mt. San Jacinto College is preparing to offer casino, solar, medical assisting, and aviation and helicopter training through Continuing Education.
