Fiery Eight-Car Pileup Shuts Down I-215 for Hours

Interstate 215 was shut down for about three hours Saturday night after an eight-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 215 near 4th Street in Perris.

All vehicles involved caught fire and six people were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The CHP reported closure of the freeway in both directions just after 5 p.m.

Traffic was diverted to side streets until the freeway was reopened shortly after 8 p.m.
