Coroner Identifies Menifee Man Killed in Traffic Accident

Investigators process the scene of a traffic fatality at the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Grosse Point Drive.

The identity of a man who died after being struck by a car while in a crosswalk on McCall Boulevard Monday night was released today by the county coroner's office.

Frank Fernandes, 58, of Menifee was struck by a vehicle about 6 p.m. Monday and was pronounced dead at a local hospital shorter thereafter.

The accident occurred at the intersection of McCall and Grosse Point Drive. According to Deputy Josh Cail of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the 63-year-old driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police. Cail said there was no suspicion of DUI and the driver was not arrested. The driver was not injured.

McCall Boulevard was closed at Murrieta Road and just east of Northwood Drive for several hours Monday night during an investigation of the accident.
