News release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE – Children will soon be enjoying safer tot lots at Lazy Creek, Nova and E.L. Pete Peterson parks. At its Dec. 17 meeting, Menifee City Council approved a contract for SpectraTurf to install new rubberized surfaces at these city-owned parks.
The resurfacing project is expected to begin the week of Dec. 29 and should be completed in late January, weather permitting. The playground area of these parks will be closed for one to two weeks while the new rubberized surface is installed. Temporary fencing will block off the construction areas.
"Not only will the resurfacing project provide a new surface and safer play area for the children using the parks, but it also has the added environmental and economic benefit of using recycled material from California-generated waste tires," said Community Services Director Robert Lennox.
More than 2,900 recycled passenger car tires will be used to make the new, spongy playground surfaces. The City received a $13,875 Cal Recycle Tire-Derived Product grant which will offset the project cost.
Park development impact fees will fund the project budget of $156,694.

Thank you so much! Our park looks amazing, and the kids really love it. You did such a great job. Also, we hadn't been to Aldergate Dog Park in at least a year, as our doggy had passed away. We now have a puppy, so we visited, and noticed the renovations right away! It's so nice now! And you added a new "small" area for smaller dogs, which was very helpful since our puppy is small and was a bit overwhelmed by the large, higher energy dogs in the large area, and she is small enough to fit through the large area's fence. What a great idea! We've really enjoyed watching our town grow into a city, and that city growing into a very nice little place to live <3
