Carjacking in Menifee Results in Freeway Chase, Arrest

A man who carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint in Menifee Thursday night led police on a freeway chase before being arrested in San Diego County, authorities said.

The incident began at 6:34 p.m. when Menifee Police responded to the call of a carjacking in the 2500 block of Crestpeak Court near Ridgemoor Road, said Deputy Armando Munoz. As deputies were responding, they located the suspect heading toward Interstate 215. A police pursuit south on the 215 and 15 freeways was initiated.

California Highway Patrol officers took over the pursuit and stopped the vehicle near Scripps Poway Parkway, KABC news reported. The man, whose name was not released, was taken into custody.
