Incumbents Scott Mann and John Denver retained their seats on the Menifee City Council and Matt Liesemeyer defeated incumbent Tom Fuhrman in election results released late Tuesday night.
Mann won re-election as mayor of Menifee by a wide margin over challenger Paul Wiggins.
With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Mann received 8,123 votes, or 72.27 percent of the votes reported. Wiggins finished a distant second with 3,117 votes -- 27.73 percent of the votes.
Election results aren't official until they are certified by the Registrar of Voters. A significant number of provisional, mail-in and damaged ballots have yet to be counted, and an update of the final tally is due to be released on Thursday. Part of that process is counting the number of votes cast for write-in candidate Darci Castillejos.
In City Council District 2, Planning Commission Chairman Liesemeyer received 43.37 percent of the votes (818). Even with some ballots yet to be counted, that appeared to be more than enough for a victory over Fuhrman (26.83 percent, 506 votes) and Sue Kristjansson (22.27 percent, 420).
In District 4, Denver held off the challenge of Gloria Sanchez to retain his council seat. Denver received 52.46 percent of the vote (1,633) to 47.54 percent for Sanchez (1,480).
