These companies will lure you in by their cheap verbal prices or written advertised prices. They will add additional fees onto the overall billing price for work that needs to be performed to insure completion of their job. These companies need to make a money profit to ensure their companies future. If a company makes no profit from a job then where will they be the next year when you have another issue?….they won’t be.
Example: If you’re having your water heater replaced; the overall estimate should include a new water shut-off valve above water heater, water heater flex-lines, and the reconnection of your pressure relief line which should be ran to the outside of the home per the Southern California Plumbing Code or U.P.C code.
All companies should advise homeowners if they need to have there plumbing brought up to code; as in the installation of a pressure regulator, water heater earthquake straps, proper water heater stand, etc.
These companies will offer free estimates or dirt cheap leak detection’s but will find a way to make up the difference in the long run. A lot of these companies are also not certified or do not have a proper license to be performing the work in your home to code. Be wary!
