Auditions Planned for 'You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown'

The Performing Arts Department of Mt. San Jacinto College is holding auditions for their production of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown: The Broadway Music."

The production is based on an average day in the life of Charles M. Schluz' "Peanuts" comic strip characters. It showcases little moments from Valentine's Day to baseball season. The musical will be performed in front of a live audience in the month April.

The production features an ensemble cast consisting of six singing and speaking roles and up to 10 ensemble singers and dancers. Auditions are open to Mt. San Jacinto College Students and to people within the community. Everyone college age and above is welcome to audition.

Auditions will be held on Dec. 10. and on Jan. 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and call backs will be on Jan. 20, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. They will be held at the San Jacinto campus, in the College Theater. Those interested in auditioning are asked to be prepared to sing a song that best showcases your voice. You can bring sheet music, as an accompanist will be provided, or you can bring a CD with a music track without vocals. You will also be asked to bring a monologue, two minutes maximum, from any play or musical of your choosing.

Speaking/Singing roles will include Charlie Brown, Sally Brown, Linus Van Pelt, Lucy Van Pelt, Snoopy, and Schroeder. Ensemble cast roles will include the look and mannerisms of Peppermint Patty Marcie, Pig Pen, and Franklin.

Everyone who is cast in the production must enroll as a student in the course THA 209 Musical Production, with exception of those who are guest artists from outside the college.

The auditions will be held in the 1500 Building of the San Jacinto Campus located at 1499 N. State St., San Jacinto, CA 92583.
