One little boy in Menifee is trying to make the world a better place, one food drive at a time.
This is Travis Reinhold. He was assigned some homework entitled "Making the world a better place." The teacher challenged the kids with finding a project that would bring attention to different ways to make the world better.
Travis and his mother Amber decided that a food drive to benefit a local family would have the most impact. Menifee 24/7 was contacted to help the momentum of the event. The flier above provides information about non-perishables to be dropped off at Travis' house by Dec. 15. Donations of food, toys and cash are all being accepted.
In addition to the video posted below, Travis was asked about his expectations for the food drive. He said, "I think we will see lots of cereal and cans. Hopefully, people will drop off toys and clothes too."
When told about the wide reach of Menifee 24/7, Travis became really excited to get the drive started.
"He even received a $40 cash donation from Grandma and Grandpa," said Amber Reinhold. "I just went grocery shopping and he has already raided our own cupboards."
The items collected will be donated to a family in need that has not yet been identified. Travis and his parents are in the processes of determining if it will be one family or several.
In the midst of all the crime, corruption and negativity that so often fills the news, there are wonderful stories of positive attitudes, hard work and success. We call them "feel good stories." Menifee 24/7 reporter Jillianne Hayes is in search of stories such as this one and will share them with our readers. If you have a "feel good story" you'd like to share with us, email her at jillianne.hayes@gmail.com.
