As we move closer to the Nov. 4 Menifee city elections, many residents are still evaluating their choices for mayor and city council members in District 2 and 4. Unfortunately, the campaign platforms of some candidates have been misrepresented through false statements made by others in anonymous fliers and through social media.
The Menifee 24/7 Candidates Forum, held Oct. 9 at Paloma Valley High School, was our attempt to allow all candidates the opportunity to clearly and accurately state their positions in a fair and balanced manner. We thank all residents who attended that night, and we know many others looked forward to watching the video of the event.
Due to some technical difficulties, we lost some of the video portion of our recording. However, we retained the entire audio portion. These have been combined to produce a combination of video, sound and still photos in seven short, viewable segments, each listed with the subjects that segment included.
We apologize to write-in mayoral candidate Darci Castillejos, who appears only briefly because the audio recordings of her statements via speaker phone were inaudible. We also apologize for the delay in putting this together -- but we believe it is important to provide Menifee residents with a valuable source of information as important voter decisions are made.

Editor's note: District 2 candidate John Baker, who is included in this video presentation, announced Oct. 16 that he has withdrawn from the race. His name remains on the ballot.
