Four new electronic traffic calming devices are being installed today at two locations in an effort to reduce motorist speeds and to provide additional data regarding local traffic.
The devices will be used at the following locations:
Ridgemoor Road, west of Murrieta Road (both directions)
Chambers Avenue, between Sun City Blvd. and Murrieta Road (both directions)
The devices are mobile and will be used in various locations throughout the city to assist in traffic calming. The devices also capture information provide data helpful to establishing times of day when motorists are speeding.
That information will assist city officials in working with police department to set up rotating traffic calming locations, said City Manager Rob Johnson.
In addition, the new motorcycle officer recently approved as part of the city budget will start on Oct. 30.
