Members of the Rotary Club of Menifee and guests gathered at Menifee Lakes Country Club Friday night for the seventh annual Mayor's Ball.
Mayor Scott Mann (right) briefly addressed the crowd before Rotary President Dr. Linda Denver turned the program over to co-emcees Dr. Jonathan Greenberg and Dr. Steve Kennedy, superintendents of the Perris Union High School District and the Menifee Union School District, respectively. The program included dinner, music and dancing, a live auction and silent auction.
In addition, two prominent residents received awards.
Robert O'Donnell (left) was presented with the Rotary Club's Service Above Self Award for his contributions to the community. A former Postmaster of the Sun City Post Office, O'Donnell has served on the governing board of the Menifee Union School District for more than two decades. He also volunteers as a patrolman with Menifee Crime Watch and at the Menifee Valley Medical Center.
Kathy Pickett received the Vocational Service Award. She is an award-winning artist who shares her vocation through teaching. Pickett (right, receiving her award from Denver) is a founding member and trustee of Arts Council Menifee, where she serves as co-chair of the Visual Arts Department. She also is president of the Sun City Art Guild.
Four of the five Menifee City Council members attended the event. Only deputy mayor Wallace Edgerton was absent. Council member Tom Fuhrman, who a day earlier was arrested on corruption charges, attended the event but did not sit at the same table with the other council members.
Also attending was Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley.
