Quarterback Raine Pohaku Kaheaku-Paiva ran for three touchdowns and Khayrii Joyner ran for two scores Friday night as the Paloma High School football team beat visiting Perris, 53-21.
The Wildcats improved their league record to 2-1 and their overall mark to 5-3 heading into next Thursday's showdown with crosstown rival Heritage.
Kaheaku-Paiva scored on runs of 13, 2 and 54 yards, helping Paloma Valley to a 34-7 halftime lead. He finished with 123 yards rushing and 132 yards passing. Jake Newton took over at quarterback in the second half, running 6 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter and passing for 90 yards.
Joyner scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter and a 16-yard run in the fourth quarter and finished with 65 yards rushing. Robert Solis returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown and Derek Davis kicked two field goals.
