Two juveniles were arrested in connection with terrorist threats made regarding Santa Rosa Academy in Menifee, police reported tonight.
The Menifee Police Department received reports of the threats on Saturday after several individuals reported receiving or seeing a cartoon image sent via the social media site Instagram with a threat to "kill every Santa Rosa person." According to a news release, the Menifee Police began an investigation, while acknowledging that the threats were nonspecific and not directed toward any particular student or employee.
Multiple search warrants were written to identify the suspects. A search warrant was served in the 32500 block of Ontario Way in Lake Elsinore. Two juveniles were arrested and booked at the Southwest Juvenile Hall.
Following the police action, parents received an email from Laura Badillo, executive director of Santa Rosa Academy, following up on an earlier email about the situation. In the email, Badillo wrote that the sender of the message had been identified and school would resume as usual on Monday.
The Menifee Police Department is asking anyone with additional information about this case to contact Detective Phillip Pico at the Menifee Police Department at 951-210-1051.
