The city of Menifee, along with CAL Fire and Riverside County Fire Department Office of Emergency Services, will be hosting CERT training classes.
CERT stands for community emergency response team. It will prepare participants to be assets to the community in times of emergency and crisis. Through the training, citizens will learn how to manage utilities, put out small fires, provide basic medical aid, search for and rescue victims safely, and treat the 3 killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating victims of shock.
The classes will run from Nov. 7 to Nov. 9. To receive a certification of completion from CERT, participants must successfully complete the practical exercise with hands-on instruction in fire suppression, search and rescue, cribbing, and medical. Participants must also complete all 20 hours of training.
The classes are free to those who wish to attend.
Class begins on Nov. 7, at 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Menifee City Hall. It picks back up again the next morning, Nov. 8, at 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (with one hour lunch break), also at Menifee City Hall. The class then moves to Menifee Fire Station 76 on Sunday, Nov. 9, also from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (also with one hour lunch break).
