The northbound lanes of Haun Road in front of Menifee Countryside Marketplace as well as the businesses along Haun Road between BevMo! and Leslie’s Pool Supplies were temporarily closed early this evening due to a gas leak, officials said.
Riverside County Fire and police from several local departments blocked off and evacuated the affected section of the shopping center for safety purposes. Customers who dropped off pets to be groomed at the Petco may still pick up their furry loved ones.
Around 5 p.m., a strong odor was detected by customers and employees and the shopping center’s security alerted authorities.
Authorities are waiting for crews from the Southern California Gas Company to appear and clamp down the broken line. There is no estimate on the time the northbound lanes of Haun Road or the affected section of Menifee Countryside Marketplace will open back up to the public.
Please check back to Menifee 24/7 for any further information.
