A 21-year-old man was arrested Aug. 11 on suspicion of theft after officers responded to the report of a commercial burglary at the Zumiez clothing store in the 40800 block of Winchester Road in Temecula.
Peter Taylor of Temecula was detained on suspicion of theft. When the officers attempted to take Taylor into custody, he pulled away from the officers and a brief struggle ensued. Taylor was able to break free and jumped over a second story railing.
An officer attempted to prevent Taylor from jumping by grabbing his jacket and shirt. Taylor pulled free and fell to the first floor, where he quickly recovered and ran out of the building.
The Sheriff's helicopter spotted Taylor a short distance from the mall and directed officers to his location, where he was arrested without further incident. Taylor was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained from the fall. He was later booked into the Southwest Detention Center for commercial burglary and resisting arrest.
Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Temecula Police Department, investigator Mullins, at 951-696-3000 or after hours at 951-776-1099.
