A Menifee man was arrested for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and for multiple other violations following a rollover collision involving two young children on Aug. 28.
According to a Sheriff's Department news release, deputies responded at 3:29 p.m. to a call of a vehicle rollover collision near the intersection of Briggs Road and Gardner Lane in Menifee. The driver failed to maneuver his Ford Explorer around a bend in the dirt road, which caused the vehicle to lose traction and overturn, police said.
The investigation revealed that an unknown adult passenger of the vehicle fled on foot prior to deputies arriving on scene. Medical personnel examined two children in the vehicle who were not injured: a 2-year-old female and a 5-year-old female.
David Carlo Engleton, 46, of Menifee was arrested for driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage; driving on a suspended driver's license; driving a vehicle while on probation with two prior convictions for driving under the influence; and driving a vehicle without an ignition interlock device pursuant to his driver's license restrictions. He was booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
Anyone with information regarding this vehicle collision is encouraged to call Deputy Josh Cail from the Menifee Traffic Team at 951-210-1068.
