The City Council this week approved a fee structure for reserving ballfields in Menifee. |
This is part of the city's ongoing structuring of the new Community Services Department. After taking control of parks on the west side of Menifee from Riverside County, the city contracted with Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District to operate parks throughout the city.
City officials contracted with Revenue & Cost Specialists, LLC, to conduct a study of recreation costs with comparison to fees charged by other cities. Based on that study, the City of Menifee set recreational use fees including the following:
-- Cost of reserving ballfields: $5 per hour for resident non-profit youth sports; $10 per hour for resident non-profit civic/social use. Comparisons: Murrieta charges $5-30 per hour; Temecula charges no fee for youth sports and $8 per hour for civic/social use.
-- Light fees for ballfield use: $10 per hour. Comparisons: Murrieta charges $15 per hour; Temecula charges $5 per hour for youth sports and $12 per hour for civic/social use.
-- Picnic shelter reservations: $5 per hour for small shelters, $10 per hour for large shelters. Comparisons: Murrieta charges $5 per hour and $20 for five hours; Temecula charges $12-15 per hour.
