Premier Media Group, the parent company of Menifee 24/7, today announced plans to launch a similar news website in the neighboring city of Murrieta.
Murrieta 24/7 will be available to readers Sept. 1 at www.murrieta247.com. Like Menifee 24/7, it will be online only, providing readers in Murrieta and surrounding communities the latest information at the click of a computer mouse or touch of their mobile device.
"The popularity of Menifee 24/7 and requests for similar coverage in Murrieta are proof that our commitment to hyperlocal online news coverage is well-founded," said Doug Spoon, co-owner of Premier Media Group and editor of Menifee 24/7, who will also serve as editor of Murrieta 24/7. "We believe this business model is a viable part of the future of journalism, and we are happy to expand our services to readers in this part of Riverside County."
The website will be presented in a format similar to Menifee 24/7, with a news stream updated throughout the day and the ability for readers to post comments. Like Menifee 24/7, it will be supported by local advertising and there will be no subscription cost to readers.
"There will be some sharing of resources, but Murrieta 24/7 will be able to provide Murrieta residents with the same quality service we have provided to Menifee residents, and without diminishing the Menifee 24/7 product," said Spoon (right), who is expanding the Premier Media staff to produce both websites.
While Murrieta 24/7 is under construction, the Murrieta 24/7 Facebook page is active as of today to promote this new business and to provide occasional updates on Murrieta news. Today the page includes a link to Menifee 24/7's Monday report on the immigration issue in Murrieta. In the coming weeks, original reporting about Murrieta will appear on that page.
We encourage you to "like" the Murrieta 24/7 Facebook page and tell your friends so we can begin to build an audience. Adding this website to the Premier Media Group lineup will enable us to provide aditional and focused coverage of Murrieta, while enabling Menifee 24/7 to be more focused strictly on Menifee news.
