Updated story includes corrected date of event:
The public is invited to a ceremony this Friday, July 11, at 8:30 a.m. to mark the change in ownership of the Kay Ceniceros Senior Center. During the ceremony, Mayor Scott Mann will accept the key to the center as a symbolic transfer of ownership.
After the ceremony, there will be center tours to showcase the events, classes and programs offered at the community gathering place.
The Riverside County Economic Development Association previously owned, operated and provided programming for the Kay Ceniceros Senior Center. As of July 1, the City of Menifee assumed ownership and responsibility for programming of the center.
"We are pleased to take ownership of Menifee's most highly used senior center and to continue providing quality programming and events to our very active senior center," said City Manager Rob Johnson. "The change aligns with Menifee's objectives of providing local management and services for local community resources."
The City plans on providing the same frequency and volume of quality programs for Menifee seniors, including health and fitness classes, trips and seasonal special events.
