A court hearing today for the juvenile accused of killing 11-year-old Terry Smith Jr. in Menifee in July 2013 was continued once again, until Aug. 7.
Skylor Atilano, 17, is accused of murdering his half brother, whose body was found buried in the back yard of the family's Menifee home after a three-day search by hundreds of residents. According to spokesman John Hall of the District Attorney's office, a new defense attorney from the public defender's office is how handling the case.
The hearing was delayed from its original morning schedule until this afternoon because of an evacuation of the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta because of a suspicious package. The area was declared safe after about a three-hour delay.
July 10 will mark the one-year anniversary of the discovery of Terry Smith Jr.'s body.
