According to police, a man armed with a knife entered the restaurant at 30640 Benton Road and demanded money from the manager behind the front counter. The manager refused to comply with his demand and the suspect fled the restaurant and drove away in a blue vehicle occupied by two male accomplices.
A deputy from the Perris Sheriff's Station patrolling the Winchester area heard the robbery broadcast over the radio and saw a blue car driving at a high rate of speed on Winchester Road matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The deputy stopped the vehicle and located the robbery suspect hiding in the backseat, along with the knife used in the robbery.
Brentyn Rooney, 21; Zachary Travis, 19; and Ruben Reed, 18, were arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center and bail was not determined at the time of the police news release. Rooney has been sought by law enforcement for nine other similar robberies in the areas of Hemet, San Jacinto, Perris and Menifee over the past month.
A search warrant was served at an address in the San Jacinto area for additional evidence in the case.
