Menifee 24/7 Finalist for LA Press Club 'Best News Site' Award

Menifee 24/7 has been named a finalist for best online-only news organization in Southern California by the Los Angeles Press Club.

This website's overall news coverage was recognized through its inclusion as a finalist in the category "Best Website News Organization Exclusive to the Internet." Winners in the LA Press Club's 2014 SoCal Journalism Awards will be announced June 29 during an Awards Gala at the Milennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

According to organizers of the awards program, a record number of entries were received this year. Professional journalists from press clubs across the nation served as judges for the contest.

Menifee 24/7 first gained statewide attention last summer during its coverage of the murder of young Terry Smith Jr. and the arrest of his 16-year-old half brother in connection with the crime. Reporting solely online without the benefit of a print publication, Menifee 24/7 now averages 350,000 page views per month on its website and has more than 15,000 followers on its Facebook page.
