Age: Almost 2 years (23 months)

Color: Dark red and black

Penny's Story: Penny is one of 14 dogs who were abandoned and left behind when their owners moved several months ago. Penny and one other dog escaped from the back yard and were hanging around and scrounging for food for several weeks. She appeared to be nursing or had just recently nursed a litter of puppies. Animal control seized the remaining dogs and their fate is unknown. Penny appears to be a Bloodhound/Lab Mix who weighs about 55 pounds. She’s been spayed, vaccinated and dewormed. Penny is a gorgeous dog with a dark red coat tipped with black and a black muzzle. She is a sweetheart, very friendly and outgoing. She's obedient and knows to sit for food and treats. She gets along well with other dogs, cats and is even crate trained. She's used to being with other dogs, therefore, she's looking for a home with another dog, preferably a male dog. Penny is a nice family dog and just wants to be loved and to be part of the family.

Agency: Rescue and Rehome, Inc., a small private nonprofit no-kill rescue.

Adoption details: Adoption fee is $150, cash only, which is to help reimburse for expenses of caring for her and getting her ready for adoption. An adoption contract is also required.

Location: Quail Valley/Menifee, Southwest Riverside County. Local adoptions only within a 75 mile radius because they deliver the animal to its new home to do a home check. They are looking for adopters who are willing and able to make a lifetime (10+ years) commitment to the care of this pet.
