Just refer to May 17 as Super Saturday in Menifee.
In addition to the regular activities on a busy Saturday in town this time of year -- youth sports, scout activities and senior club events -- there are no less than four major events taking place, all on the same day.
These have and will be previewed separately on Menifee 24/7, but here's a brief look at the events of a busy day this Saturday:
Menifee Half-Marathon
7:30 a.m. start
Runners from Menifee and surrounding areas will take to the streets in this annual race over a 13-mile course. The event starts in front of Mt. San Jacinto College at the corner of Antelope Road and La Piedra Road.
Information about road closures during the event will be posted here later today. There's still time to register to take part in this event. Deadline for early discounted registration is midnight tonight. Same-day registration is also available.
For more information, call 951-929-9691, email race@menifeehalf.com or visit this website.
Menifee Relay for Life
9 a.m. Saturday through Sunday morning
This annual event raises money to fight cancer. Volunteers walk or run laps around the track at Paloma Valley High School all day Saturday, throughout the night and the next morning. Many activities are planned in the infield, including a special ceremony Saturday night, in which candles will be lit in honor of those who have died of cancer.
There will be entertainment for all and fun for the kids throughout the weekend. For more information, call event chair Jennafer Griswold at 951-219-0883 or register online here.
Arts Council Menifee Showcase
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Local residents will sing, dance and perform other forms of entertainment in several areas of Countryside Marketplace. Acts will perform between The Beer Hunter and Chipotle throughout the afternoon.
This is the fourth year for the event, which has grown every year. For more information, call visit the Arts Council Menifee website.
"Everything's Coming Up Roses"
Fashion Show and Luncheon
Event begins at noon
This annual event is hosted by the Menifee/Sun City Women's Club and is held at Webb Hall, 26850 Sun City Blvd. A variety of spring fashions will be modeled by club members and lunch will be served. Cost is $20.
Space is limited, so an RSVP is encouraged. Call Joan Ring at 951-378-4714 (evenings), Diane Cordova at 951-677-3998 (days) or email westcoastjoan@verizon.net.
