Mt. San Jacinto College’s Menifee Theatre Arts and Dance Departments will host an "Earth Dance" event on Saturday, April 26.
This family friendly event has been set up to celebrate Earth Day and National Dance Week. It will be sponsored by the Dance Theatre Collective of Southern California and Arts Council Menifee.
Participants are encouraged to walk, run, clap and dance to the sounds of Afro-Brazilian drum music, provided by the World to Dance/Tropicalezia. There will be a Shaman to kick off the Earth Dance event.
This cultural experience is free for all to attend and no dance experience is necessary.
"Earth Dance is an opportunity to dance community together," said Earth Dance coordinator Lori Craig Torok, associate professor of Theatre Arts & Dance at MSJC and president of Dance Theatre Collective of Southern California. “People who come together for the common intention of joy, connection, and healing can make a difference to the planet. Our actions resonate beyond ourselves, to our community, and the world.”
The event will take place on the Menifee Valley campus soccer field from 9 a.m. to noon.
