Recently, members of the Rotary Club of Menifee assembled toiletry kits as a community project at one of their regular meetings.
President Linda Denver contacted Gina Magee, Executive Director of Southwest Riverside County Trauma Intervention Program (www.tipswrc.org ) and asked if the organization could use the kits. The answer was an enthusiastic "yes". Magee said that there is often a need for toiletry items in the women’s shelters and in hospitals.
"When families find themselves in the hospital in an emergency situation and need to remain there with their family member, they can use these supplies," Magee explained.
The Rotarians gathered hotel toiletries and placed them in more than 75 tote kits provided by a fellow member, Dr. Ruth Bol of The Children’s Dental Practice of Menifee Valley.
"I was glad to put them to good use," said Dr. Bol.
This is just one example of community projects accomplished by Menifee Rotary, whose motto is "Service Above Self". Their fundraisers, like the annual Menifee Mayor’s Ball and Menifee Motor Madness car show, generate dollars to pay for projects that serve youth through senior residents in Menifee.
The club meets each Thursday at BJs Restaurant and Brewhouse n Countryside Marketplace at noon. For information, call 951-672-1731.
