11 a.m.: Story is updated with additional photos. This fatality occurred just over a year after a Menifee woman died in a traffic accident on the same stretch of road. Read that story here.
An Orange County man died early this morning in a single-vehicle accident on Antelope Road north of Scott Road, police said.
Officers from the Menifee Police Department responded at 5:49 a.m. to the report of a roll-over accident in an open field between Antelope Road and the 215 Freeway. According to police, a 38-year-old white male resident of the city of Orange was located near the wreckage of a white Toyota 4-Runner. Cal Fire responded and pronounced the male deceased.
The Menifee Traffic Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed the male driver was traveling southbound on Antelope Road at a high rate of speed when he left the paved roadway and lost control of his vehicle. The Toyota traveled approximately a quarter-mile in the open field before rolling numerous times and ejecting the male driver.
The deceased driver’s name is being withheld pending notification to his family. Anyone with information on this investigation is encouraged to call Deputy Cail at the Perris Sheriff’s Station, 951-210-1000.
