Clarification: This meeting is separate from the special City Council meeting Wednesday night, which deals with the bigger picture of who should control the city's parks -- the City of Menifee or Valley-Wide Recreation. That meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
News release from the City of Menifee:
MENIFEE – The City is hosting a meeting tonight at 6 p.m. for Menifee sports field users to provide important information about the city’s new Community Services Department and the July 1 transition of field services from the County of Riverside to the City of Menifee.
Tonight's meeting will take place in Menifee City Hall, located at 29714 Haun Road.
Youth and adult sports group leaders and members, along with residents who use the sports facilities, are encouraged to attend this informational meeting to provide feedback about facility maintenance, field conditions, availability of fields and ease-of-use.
In addition, there will be discussion relating to the new Audie Murphy Ranch Park; an overview of proposed parks ordinances that will establish park and field usage rules; a brief introduction to the new field reservation system for sports fields; and a discussion of programming possibilities.
"When the County handed over control of Menifee parks and facilities west of Interstate 215, it provided the city the opportunity to better meet the needs of residents through local control of these amenities," said City Manager Rob Johnson. "The city plans to streamline business practices and parks and facilities management to provide fiscal accountability while reducing liability and delivering top-notch programming and ease-of-use. The City of Menifee is striving to meet the needs of Menifee residents who ultimately pay for these amenities with their tax dollars."
