Three motorists were arrested on drug or alcohol charges during a DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint conducted by the Menifee Police Department Saturday night.
The checkpoint was conducted at Newport Road and Lone Pine Street between the hours of 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public, police said.
Deputies contacted drivers in the eastbound lanes of Newport Road at the intersection with Lone Pine Street. A total of 1,000 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Of those vehicles, 65 vehicles were directed into the secondary inspection/evaluation area, which resulted in the following:
-- 10 drivers were given field sobriety tests
-- 2 DUI-Alcohol suspects were arrested.
-- 1 DUI-Drug impaired suspect was arrested
-- 15 Drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked
-- 11 vehicles were towed
-- 19 citations were issued
-- 1 arrest warrant was served

That explains why Holland Road west of Murrieta was busier than most Saturday nights, they were all avoiding the checkpoint that was posted all on the internet
ReplyDeleteBravo Zulu to our police force. Their preventive actions could prevent a serious accidents. I hope they continue doing this to keep our town safe.
