A recent Motorist Safety Enforcement Operation conducted by the Menifee Police Department resulted in 77 drivers being cited for unsafe driving actions, police said today.

On March 21, officers patrolled areas in the city of Menifee where crashes frequently occur. Officers were specifically looking for motorists committing unsafe driving actions that lead to crashes.

California collision data reveals that primary causes of crashes include speeding, unsafe turning, inattention and impairment due to alcohol and other drugs. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
