Beginning April 1, lost or abandoned animals found in Menifee and not reunited with owners by the end of the day will be sheltered at the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, according to a City of Menifee news release.
Ramona Humane Society notified the City of Menifee its sheltering services contract for the city would terminate March 31. The city has contracted with Riverside County to shelter animals at the San Jacinto campus, located at 581 S. Grand Avenue in San Jacinto.
Menifee will maintain its existing contract with Animal Friends of the Valleys in Wildomar for animal control services. Stray animals picked up will be held at that facility until the end of the day, when they will be transferred to San Jacinto.
Animal Friends of the Valleys will attempt to return lost pets to owners throughout the day by using microchip information or license tags. They can be reached at 951-674-0618.
The San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus can be reached at 951-358-7387. It is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed Sunday and Monday.
