A Wildomar woman suspected of shooting to death the father of their 6-month-old baby is in custody of the Riverside Sheriff's Department, police said today.
Maria Vihanek, 32, is expected to face murder charges in the death of Keith Rodman, 49, of Los Angeles. Rodman was found in the lobby of the Pechanga Resort and Casino Friday night, suffering from gunshot wounds. He died later at Temecula Valley Hospital.
According to police, Vihanek and Rodman were involved in a dating relationship and had a baby together. The baby was present in the hotel room during the shooting but was not injured.
Vihanek is being treated for a self-inflicted injury that is not considered life-threatening.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in a guest room and that the victim entered the lobby of the casino to seek emergency medical treatment immediately thereafter.
