Two men were arrested this morning after fleeing a location in Lake Elsinore where police officers spotted a truck that was stolen in Menifee.
Police said that at about 2:15 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a Toyota truck at a business getting gas in the 29300 block of Central Avenue. The officer conducted a records check, which revealed the truck was reported stolen.
As the officer approached the business, the suspects fled from the location and ran behind the LA Fitness on Dexter Avenue. Additional officers followed on foot pursuit and a perimeter was established. The suspects were eventually located hiding behind a retaining wall near the intersection of Dexter Avenue and Third Street.
The suspects were taken into custody without incident, and were also in possession of narcotics.
Rodney Rice, 21, of Canyon Lake was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. Edward "Ricky" Parks, 47 and a transient, was arrested for violation of parole, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.
Both suspects were transported to the Southwest Detention Center.
