The Menifee Police Department has released the results of its motorcycle safety enforcement operation, conducted on Jan. 18.
Officers patrolled areas of Menifee frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes have occurred. Officers looked for violations made by drivers of motor vehicles and riders of motorcycles alike that could lead to motorcycle crashes.
A total of 29 traffic enforcement stops were made, which resulted in the following:
-- 15 citations were written
-- 2 for unsafe speed
-- 2 for red light violations
-- 1 for unsafe turn
-- 6 for unapproved D.O.T. helmets
-- 1 for no helmet
-- 1 for modified lighting
-- 1 for off-road vehicle on roadway
-- 1 arrest warrant service
-- 1 motorcycle towed
