A suspect in the robbery of the Best Buy store in Countryside Marketplace in Menifee was captured soon thereafter in Perris last night.
Daniel Israel Martinez, 27, of Perris was located in the 3000 block of Wollyleaf Court in Perris through identification of the black Nissan sedan seen leaving the scene of the crime. Martinez refused to follow instructions from deputies and was taken into custody with help of a police dog.
The crime was reported at 5:48 p.m. Saturday at the Best Buy in the 30000 block of Haun Road. According to police, the suspect brandished a knife at store employees and fled the store with stereo equipment.
Martinez was positively identified as the suspect in the robbery. Stolen property was recovered in Martinezs’ vehicle and returned to Best Buy employees. Martinez was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He will be booked in a local jail for robbery.
