Arts Council Menifee has announced plans for its Menifee's Got Talent 2014 event, which will be held in a bigger venue with even more participation and audience attendance expected this year.
This year's event will take place in Heritage High School's state of the art theater. It has a spacious stage, exceptional lighting and sound equipment, and 500 seats. Performers chosen from those who audition will perform on Friday, April 11 from 7-9:30 p.m. The show will be made up of approximately 22 acts, each performing for 4-6 minutes.
This year, MGT will not be a contest so much as a talent showcase of the best non-professional talent in Menifee. Professionals who were paid to perform four or more times in 2013 are not eligible for the event, but if they email the organizers, they could be included in the announcements.
Auditions for the showcase will take place Saturday, March 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kay Ceniceros Center, Newport Road at Evans Road. Here is some information about the auditions:
Singers: You can audition in several ways: Acapella, with your own instrument, with another musician, or with recorded music. For the actual showcase, it is preferred that you sing with live music in some fashion. Event organizers can introduce you to some excellent piano accompanists.
Rock and country bands: Rather than have you come to the auditions, event organizers would like to see you play somewhere locally (some time before March 1 if possible), even if it's in your garage. If you have a video on YouTube or another website with your current personnel, that may be sufficient.
Pianists: There will be an 88-key piano on site.
Other musicians: Bring your own instrument(s).
Other acts, such as dancers and novelty acts such as jugglers, are invited to audition.
To register for the auditions, email auditions@artscouncilmenifee.org or mail to:
Arts Council Menifee
PO Box 385
Menifee CA 92586.
In either case, to be part of the auditions, please be sure to include...
1. Name, full address, email address and phone number(s).
2. Description of your skill or talent.
3. What song you plan to perform (you can change your mind later).
Information must be received by Monday, Feb. 17. You will be contacted with confirmation and further instructions before March 1.
If you have questions, call Caren Hanson at 951-301-4780.
