A 51-year-old man died from injuries sustained this morning when his motorcycle collided with a car in Lake Elsinore.
A motorcycle ridden by Jose Garcia of Fontana collided with a sedan at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Ohio State about 7:43 a.m. today. Deputies from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to the location. Paramedics also arrived within a few minutes and began treating the motorcyclist.
Garcia was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short while later. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision at this time, police said. The sole occupant of the sedan, a male in his 20s, did not sustain any injuries. His identity has not been released.
No other details about the accident were available, other than the fact Garcia was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The roads surrounding the intersection were blocked off by the Lake Elsinore City Roads Department and traffic was diverted around the crash scene. The intersection is expected to be obstructed for the remainder of the afternoon while deputies from the Lake Elsinore Police Traffic Team investigate the cause of the collision.
Anyone having additional information regarding the collision is encouraged to contact the Lake Elsinore Police Traffic Team at 951-245-3300.
