Members of Menifee Sun City Concern Inc. will deliver hot turkey dinners to over 50 at-risk seniors on Thanksgiving Day.
This will be the first annual Thanksgiving Day dinners for "at-risk" seniors. These seniors are on the Reassurance Call list of seniors who receives telephone calls Monday through Friday to ensure they are safe and secure. Most of them do not leave their homes and the only communication is through the daily calls. Many of them do not have any family or the family lives to far away to be with them on Thanksgiving.
The Concern is partnering with Boston Billie’s Restaurant, which will prepare and package the hot Turkey Dinners. The Ambassadors for The Concern will deliver the meals to the homes of the seniors on Thanksgiving Day. The seniors will receive a traditional turkey dinner complete with pumpkin pie.
Several of the seniors have spoken with Carol "Red" Sullivan, President/CEO of Menifee Sun City Concern, regarding both their surprise that they will be receiving a turkey dinner and that this is the first Thanksgiving Dinner they have had in several years. Some of the seniors were in tears that they were being remembered.
"The Concern is pleased to be able to continue serving the seniors by making sure they have a hot meal and are not alone on Thanksgiving," Sullivan said.
The Concern is a 501 c3 non-profit corporation which operates on donations, grants, etc. It has received a food donation from the Oasis Luncheon Fall Club. Boston Billie’s has offered to prepared and package the meals.
The Concern is looking for people to assist with the delivery of the meals as well as any donations. Those interested should call Carol “Red” Sullivan at 951-679-2374 or 951-492-1254. The address is 26814 Cherry Hills Blvd., Menifee, CA 92586.
